Judy Hudson is a photographic artist, based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, (Australia). After a successful career in education, Hudson pursued her love of photography, studying at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne. She now exhibits her works locally and internationally, most recently at the Flack Post and Telegraph Office Gallery, Ballan, 2024 and at The Centre for Contemporary Photography, Summer Salon, 2023.
She was honoured to exhibit her works at the Venice Photo Biennale, Italy in 2022.

Judy works in both digital and analogue processes, producing evocative and poetic, black and white prints, toned photogravures, salt prints and polaroids. Her works are often praised for their sense of timelessness and attention to detail. Her portfolio is a testament to her keen eye for capturing moments that transcend time. Through her lens she explores themes of melancholy and introspection producing images infused with nostalgia and romanticism.

Fascinated by the interplay of natural light and shadow, she captures darkness and mystery through her use of long and double exposures. With a love of historic art and settings, Judy carefully constructs haunting narratives woven often using her personal collection of antique props and costuming. She has been praised for her delicate and emotionally charged work.

Judy has had the honour and privilege of photographing within the walls of the historic Flack Post and Telegraph Office over the last year where she produced the ‘The Little Book of Sorrows’ series and is currently working on the ‘The Anatomy of Melancholy series’.
