Judy Hudson is a photographic artist, based in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, (Australia) where she has passionately pursued her craft for over a decade. After a successful career in education, Judy pursued her love of photography, studying at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne. She has exhibited her works locally and internationally, most recently at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Summer Salon 2023 in Melbourne and Venice Photo Biennale, Italy in 2022.

Judy works in both digital and analogue processes, producing evocative and poetic, black and white prints and toned photogravures, imbued with a sense of timelessness. Her portfolio is a testament to her keen eye for capturing moments that transcend time and through her lens she explores themes of melancholy and introspection producing images infused with nostalgia and romanticism.  

​

Fascinated by the interplay of natural light and shadow, she captures darkness and mystery through her use of long and double exposures. With a love of decayed walls and wooden floorboards, worn with the footsteps of time, Judy carefully constructs haunting narratives woven around personal mythologies. She has been praised for her delicate and emotionally charged work.  

​

Judy has had the honour and privilege of photographing within the walls of the historic Flack Post and Telegraph Office over the last year where she has produced the ‘The Little Book of Sorrows’ series and is currently working on the ‘The Anatomy of Melancholy series’.
